The entire path of the Buddha’s teachings in one course! In partnership with International Buddhist Academy, Nepal.

IBA Banner

The International Buddhist Academy (IBA) in Kathmandu has launched a global training program that encompasses teaching the Buddhist path in its entirety. Called The Complete Path, this unique course has been devised to provide Dharma practitioners of all levels of experience a systematic training focused mainly on the theory and practice of the Vajrayana path as transmitted by the founding masters of the Sakya school of Tibetan Buddhism. The full course is planned to run once a month for seven years. The full program is included in a diagram below.

His Eminence Ratna Vajra Rinpoche, the eldest son of His Holiness the 41st Sakya Trizin and one of the most important lineage holders living today, was requested to teach the program at the International Buddhist Academy, an ideal setting in Kathmandu for this intensive training course. The first year of these teachings took place in August 2017 with many students present and great effects for attendees.

Because not everyone is able to go to Nepal, the IBA has established partnerships with selected Dharma centers across the world to teach the first three years of this seven-year course in their home countries. The Tibetan Buddhist Society of Canberra is delighted to announce that we are offering you the chance to be a part of this wonderful Complete Path course, right here in Canberra.

Taught in its entirety by Lama Choedak Rinpoche, this 10 day intensive course will run from 5-14 January at our Evatt Centre. Using the same curriculum as the IBA course, this first year of material is designed for complete beginners to enter the world of Buddhist Philosophy. This is an unparalleled opportunity to learn the entire teachings of the Buddha in a systematic, progressive manner.

This first year unit is on the text Clarifying the Sage‘s Intent by the Great Sakya Pandita Kunga Gyaltsen, one of the founders of the Sakya tradition. It is a complete presentation of the theory and practice of the Mahayana, covering the topics of Buddha nature, refuge, bodhicitta, the six paramitas, the stages of the path and the qualities of the resultant state of buddhahood.

The first year is open to everyone! However, participation from the second year onward requires completion of the previous levels. As such, we are urging you to attend this first year of the curriculum, as it grants permission to attend the teachings next year. At the end of each year’s course, participants will receive a certification attesting their qualification to continue the program. A special certificate will be awarded to participants for completion of the full 7-year program.

It is also very likely that this is the last time the first year of teaching will be given anywhere in the world. So don’t miss out!

Teachings: 9am - 6pm *Except First Day (Friday 5th), Which is 3-6pm*
A light lunch will be provided.
