SIBA was founded by Lama Choedak Rinpoche and formally opened and consecrated by His Eminence Chogye Trichen Rinpoche on 7th September 2006. His Eminence gave the Dharma name ‘Tsarchen Choeling’ on the 440th Anniversary of the Mahaparinirvana of Tsarchen Losal Gyatso (1502-1566). Over three hundred people enthusiastically attended the opening ceremony and received empowerment.
In 2009, His Holiness Sakya Trizin blessed the centre and gave teachings on “Illuminating the Sage’s Intent” by Sakya Pandita to hundreds of people from all over the country and overseas. Likewise, we hosted visits of His Eminence Ratna Vajra, His Eminence Gyana Vajra Rinpoche and others.
SIBA has fulfilled the wishes of His Eminence and Lama Choedak Rinpoche as a beautiful, dynamic and friendly retreat centre and Buddhist community. It has been a very successful undertaking and we have all been the beneficiaries. Thousands have attended retreats over the last ten years. Thanks to the generous and dedicated contribution of so many retreat participants, residents, donors, members, friends and, of course, Lama Choedak Rinpoche.
10th Anniversary Reunion Programme
A special programme is being organised 2pm Saturday 1st October 2016 to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the founding of SIBA. We plan to have other high lamas attend this event. This is an opportunity for friends and community to come together and rejoice, recollect and reconnect with the special blessings of His Eminence and the Centre. It will be a reunion for all those who attended the opening, have taken part in a retreat, been a resident or just visited here. Reconnecting with each other can greatly enhance the energy of the Sangha.
Also, this occasion will mark the 20th annual 10-day Calm Abiding Meditation Retreat to be led by Lama Choedak Rinpoche which will run from 6pm Friday 23rd September to 2pm Sunday 2nd October 2016. It will great to see all friends attend this milestone event or at least be part of the special programme during the last weekend.
