PHILOSOPHY COURSE: Udanavarga (Part Three) – Canberra

Registration is closed for this event
The second teaching term of philosophy from Lama Choedak Rinpoche.

The Udanavarga (Tsom in Tibetan) is a classical Buddhist collection of topically organized chapters of aphoristic verses or "utterances" (Sanskrit: udāna) attributed to the Buddha and his disciples. Although not part of the Pali Canon, the Udānavarga has many chapter titles, verses and an overall format similar to those found in the Pali Canon's Dhammapada and Udana. There are 33 chapters overall. In early 1880, William Rockhill provided a translation. Currently, there is one Sanskrit recension, two Chinese recensions and two or three Tibetan recensions of this Udānavarga.

For this course, Lama Choedak Rinpoche will translate and teach directly from the root Tibetan text and its commentary. Listening to teaching from the original Buddhist texts is a rare opportunity.

All are welcome, even beginners!
