The Tibetan Preliminary practices ('Ngondro') is regarded as the first step for those wishing to undertake Tibetan Buddhist meditation practices. and is a joyously satisfying ritual that promotes wellbeing. This practice is very suitable for those new to Tibetan Buddhism who are keen to learn the authentic practices of the tradition.
Each of the techniques taught in Ngondro is a complete practice in itself. Over the many centuries of its practice by the great luminaries of Tibetan Buddhism, Ngondro was traditionally undertaken as the means for purification of negative karma, and the accumulation of virtuous mental states. As well as providing a good overview of Tibetan Buddhist practice and ritual in general, Ngondro helps to purify our negative thoughts and to strengthen our confidence.
This the 28th annual Ngondro retreat provides an opportunity for new students to receive instructions, and for experienced students to progress. At this 3-day residential retreat Rinpoche will give the empowerment, comprehensive teachings and lead practice sessions on all the key practices which include: refuge and prostrations; developing bodhicitta; Vajrasattva purification; offering mandala; and guru yoga.
