Saka Dawa (Vesak) Celebrations 2022 – CHANGE OF VENUE AND TIME

Registration is closed for this event
This sacred month is known as ‘Saka Dawa’ in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition (or 'Vesak' in other traditions). It is believed that anything one does in the month has 100,000 more merit than at any other time of the year.

Saka Dawa

The Buddhist world has one and only historical Buddha, Shakyamuni, whose Birth, Enlightenment and Great Passing Away all occurred on the same day of the year - the Full Moon of the fourth month of the Tibetan Calendar, (which often falls in May in the Western Calendar).

This year the full moon in Saka Dawa falls on Tuesday, so we will dedicate the whole day to practice -including a precepts ceremony; 16 Arhat Puja; and other relevant practices. This is the most sacred day in the Tibetan Buddhist calendar, so it is suggested that you mark this day by making yourself available for a day of prayer to rejoice and celebrate having the precious Dharma in your life. Rinpoche will also give one teaching session to mark the occasion.

All are asked to bring some food to share. This is a free event but a donation is always appreciated.

Please note the change of venue and time for Saka Dawa celebration.
