Calm Abiding meditation is a traditional, easily accessible form of meditation that will rapidly bring peace and happiness to your mind as you learn to abide in the present moment.
Meditation has a proven record in its ability to improve health, awaken happiness and give a clear perspective on life. This 8-week course will introduce you to the five experiences and nine mental stages of calm abiding meditation.
Chaplain Jeff Newton is a Buddhist Chaplain within the Royal Australian Navy. He is an experienced meditation practitioner himself, having started a daily practice in 2012. He has completed several short-term retreats and undertaken both spiritual and academic study of Buddhism.
Registration for this meditation class includes a complimentary copy of the handbook "Taming the Elephant Mind" by Lama Choedak Rinpoche, which will be posted to the address you indicate on your registration.
This eight week course is held from 7:00 to 8:30pm Monday evenings, Australian Eastern Time.
Please note: there are two public holiday Monday's during this time in Canberra. There will be no class on Monday 5th of April.
