HOW TO DEVELOP EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE: UNDERSTANDING FIVE AGGREGATES

Not knowing manifest objects as merely imputed concepts makes most people regard things as truly existent and grasp them to be real. Considering the conventional notions of 'self' and 'other', that are merely imputed, dependent and unitarily existent as real has severe consequences to one's emotional well-being.

Not knowing manifest objects as merely imputed concepts makes most people regard things as truly existent and grasp them to be real. Considering the conventional notions of 'self' and 'other', that are merely imputed, dependent and unitarily existent as real, has severe consequences to one's emotional well-being. Imagining merely imputed phenomena as truly and permanently existent entities obscures the cognitive mind and causes many emotional instabilities when they prove to be impermanent and contrary. Most misunderstandings in relationships, pain, hurt, guilt, anger and resentment are caused by one's lack of crucial intelligence in being aware of the contrast between facts and assumptions. In Buddhist syllogism, there are differences between (1) manifest, (2) hidden and (3) very hidden objects. The five aggregates are core subjects that are often confused and grasped as self and other. Form, feeling, perception, action and consciousness are known as five aggregates. Grasping at body as 'self', emotions as 'permanent' and thought as 'real' and objects as 'truly existent' are fundamental causes of wrong action and reaction under the influence of afflictions and knowledge obscuration. In this special workshop, one will gain in depth knowledge about the Five Aggregates from various different Buddhist philosophical views. While Lama Choedak Rinpoche will be the host, a number of international Buddhist teachers and scholars are invited to give presentations on this important subject.  It will be advertised once the identities of the speakers will be known. Do not miss this unique opportunity to learn and grow.
