Meditation
Meditation has
a proven record in its ability to improve health, awaken happiness
and give a clear perspective on life.
A meditator can
integrate a sense of calmness into everyday activities and
transform negative situations into something positive.
To learn to meditate
you need an experienced teacher and a well-defined, graded
path.
Lama Choedak Rinpoche,
our Spiritual Director, has dedicated much of his time to
establishing Calm Abiding Meditation courses throughout Australia
and New Zealand.
These courses are
open to anyone from whatever spiritual background.
About
the technique
Calm Abiding is
a meditation technique (sometimes known as Shamatha Meditation
or Single Pointed Concentration).
It will enable
the practitioner to identify the real causes of unhappiness
and recover from stress, anxiety and tension.
Learn to see the
patterns of the mind and transform them into the causes of
happiness, balance and well-being.
How
to book
Lama Choedak Rinpoche's
classes are held at Sakya Losal Choe Dzong, Alderman Street,
Evatt (in Canberra) on Tuesday nights during term time from
6pm to 7.15pm.
To book, contact
the Tai Chi Academy, who kindly manage these classes, on (02)
6296 1357.

Annual
retreat
You can also enrol
in the Annual 10-day Calm Abiding Course held in October each
year.
Short long-weekend
classes are occasionally held during the year at Virupa Retreat
Centre.
Our sister centres
also offer Calm Abiding long-weekends taught by Lama Choedak
Rinpoche during the year.
Due to the enormous
demand for this course Lama Choedak Rinpoche has trained many
of his senior students throughout Australia and New Zealand
to lead Calm Abiding courses.
These facilitators
have been thoroughly trained to teach this sequential technique
according to a standard format so that all students are taught
in the same way.
These courses have
been wonderfully successful with many students returning time
and again to consolidate their practice and enjoy the encouraging
group ambience.
