Privacy policy

Privacy is a basic human right and we guarantee that any information you divulge to us is kept in strict confidence.

We do not provide - ie share, sell or rent - this information to anyone without your permission.

We are committed to protecting your privacy. We will only use the information that we collect about you lawfully and for the purposes you have approved (eg newsletter, membership, bookings).

We will not email you in the future unless you have given us your consent.

The type of information we will collect about you includes:

your name
address
phone number
email address
country

We will never collect sensitive information about you without your explicit consent.

The information we hold will be accurate and up to date. You can check the information we hold about you by emailing us. If you find any inaccuracies we will delete or correct it promptly.

Cookies

We may use technology to track the patterns of behaviour of visitors to our site. This can include using a "cookie" which would be stored on your browser. You can usually modify your browser to prevent this happening. The information collected in this way can be used to identify you unless you modify your browser settings.

Server statistics

Our site logs information about you that is automatically recognised by our Internet Service Provider's web server (eg your IP address, browser type). Your IP address is used to gather broad demographic information to help us analyse web traffic (eg measure the number of visitors to our site and the most popular pages). The information is also used for technical administration of the site as well as research and development of new services. Email addresses and other personally identifiable information are not available to us.

External links

This site contains many links to other sites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such sites.

Email links

In various places on our site, you'll find links for sending us an email message. We use your email address to send you a reply and we will retain your message only for later referral should you decide to contact us again. Your message and email address remain confidential unless you specifically give us permission otherwise.

Email newsletter

We make available an opt-in email newsletter and web log. Subscription is optional and requires your consent. You may unsubscribe at any time via the links in the newsletter.

Order/booking form

Our site uses order/booking forms for you to request products and services. We collect your contact information (eg email address, phone number) to contact you in case of changes to product or event details (eg date, time, venue). Any other information we collect is used as research and to help develop future services.

Secure payment

Our site includes a link to a third-party provider - www.paypal.com.au - for secure online payments and direct deposits. Your credit card and bank account details are not displayed to us. All online financial transactions with us are undertaken via the PayPal service. PayPal use several mechanisms to protect the security and integrity of your personal information, including using the financial industry's Secure Socket Layer (SSL) standards with 128-bit encryption. You should check that your browser is compatible with SSL encryption. This is often indicated by a 'closed lock' icon at the bottom of your screen.

PayPal transfers financial data securely into the Australian payments clearing system via dedicated telecommunications lines and proprietary banking software to ensure the integrity of its direct debit and credit payments. Credit card payments are processed similarly.

PayPal employs qualified, independent auditors to review its security standards and practices on a regular basis to ensure that its software, operational practices and management controls meet the stringent standards of the Australian financial industry.

Unfortunately, no data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed as completely secure. So while PayPal strives to protect such information, it cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit and you do so at your own risk. Once your personal information comes into PayPal's possession, they will take reasonable steps to protect that information from misuse and loss and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.

See PayPal's security centre for tips on shopping safely online.

Online surveys

Our online surveys will ask for contact information (eg email address) to contact you when necessary (eg if you win a prize). Any other information collected (eg job title) is used for research to help improve and develop services.

Public forums

A chat room, message boards or web logs may be available to our web site visitors. Please remember that any information disclosed in these areas becomes public information - you should exercise caution when deciding to disclose your personal information.

Information security

This site has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control. Only authorised people have access to the information you provide us. We have implemented technology and security policies, rules and measures to protect the personal data under our control from unauthorised access, improper use, alteration, unlawful or accidental destruction and loss. We will continue to enhance our security procedures as new technology becomes available.

User ID

You are ultimately responsible for the security of your member log in and password. Please take care when using and storing them - do not divulge your password to anyone. You should log out of your browser at the end of each computer session to ensure others can't access your personal information and correspondence, especially if you share a computer or use a computer in a public place (eg library or Internet café).

Children

Our site does not contain offensive or physically dangerous information. We are not responsible for the content on any other sites we may link to. Parents and guardians should educate themselves and their children in online safety and privacy.
