CLASS: Meditation For Beginners in Canberra – Tuggeranong

Registration is closed for this event
Introductory meditation classes in Canberra at Tuggeranong Community Centre - Beginners welcome!

Meditation has a proven record in its ability to improve health, awaken happiness and to give a clear perspective on life. It gives the ability identify the real causes of unhappiness and to recover from stress, anxiety and depression. Meditation can also greatly assist in the management of pain and in coping with chronic illness. Most of all, meditation helps to calm the mind, reducing mental chatter and negative patterns, which then leads to greater clarity, awareness and inner peace.

The main method of meditation that these classes will focus on is single-pointed concentration on the breath whilst seated in the traditional meditation posture, as taught in all Buddhist traditions. This technique, known as shamata or calm abiding meditation, is an excellent method to help you focus better on ordinary tasks and to have a greater degree of contentment and happiness in your day-to-day life. These classes will also introduce you to other traditional forms of meditation including walking meditation, analytical meditation and visualization techniques.
