COURSE: Nine Stages of Taming the Elephant Mind – Canberra

Registration is closed for this event
Taming the Elephant Mind is a wonderful illustration that symbolises our journey as a meditator through the Nine Stages of Calm Abiding meditation.

The Nine Stages of Calm Abiding are nine distinct levels of concentration that we can Mindah Lee Kumarexperience from the beginning to the advanced levels of meditation (before realizing selflessness). It takes us from having a completely distracted and wild mind that is like an untamed elephant, to having a mind that is completely pacified and able to stay in meditative absorption for days.

This four week course will explain the Nine Stages of Calm Abiding in great detail while using the Taming The Elephant Mind diagram to further explain the different meditative obstacles we experience at each stage, for instance, mental agitation and dullness. Each class will have a small component of practicing Calm Abiding meditation. By the end of this course, you will have a deep understanding of the Nine Stages of Calm Abiding and the meaning of the Taming the Elephant Mind diagram which can be used as an inspirational aid for your meditation practice.

This four week course is held from 7:30 to 9:00pm Tuesday evenings.
