RETREAT: Queen’s Birthday 3-day Yoga & Meditation – SIBA

An invigorating and energising way to spend the June long weekend. A great way to welcome winter in the beautiful and cozy Golden House.

Kate McAnergney has been practicing yoga for 17 years and teaching for over 10 years. She teaches a mindful, often flowing style of Yoga focusing on the integration of sound, breath, movement and internal awareness. Kate approaches asana (physical yoga) practice with a sense of curiosity and playfulness. An intuitive and down to earth teacher, she encourages her students towards finding a sense of contentment and peace of mind through embracing the body in all it's potential whilst accepting it's limitations. Kate’s special interest is in teaching yoga to women during their childbearing years, and she is now a sought after prenatal yoga teacher in Melbourne.

Kate will be teaching several asana classes over the weekend - introducing students to the practice of Yin Yoga as well as explorations based on her own outlook on the Hatha Yoga tradition. Kate will also be offering sessions of chanting and kirtan (devotional singing) in the evenings.

Joel Orenstein has been practicing meditation, yoga and Qi Gong for almost 20 years and consciously integrates mindfulness practices into his professional and daily life where he works as a lawyer and trainer. Over the past 10 years Joel has run regular workshops, courses and retreats on mindfulness for lawyers and other professionals focused on integrating mindfulness practices with professional life. During 2012 he undertook intensive study at the Centre for Mindfulness at the University of Pennsylvania, undertaking the teachers practicum in Mindfulness Based Stress-Management. He writes regularly on the topic of mindfulness and professional balance and currently facilitates mindfulness programs to barristers through the Vic Bar Health and Wellness Committee.

Joel will be working in tandem with Kate to introduce meditation and other mindfulness practices, including Qi Gong (chi kung), over this weekend.

Bookings for this retreat are made with Kate and Joel. You can go to their website for more information.
